ceo(CEO) Mrs Ntombenhle Nkosi

 

A WOMAN OF UNIQUE SUBSTANCE -BRINGING TRANSFORMATION ON BOARD.

The PanSALB (Pan South African Language Board) acknowledges the appointment of the new CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Ms. Ntombentle Rosemary Nkosi which took effect as from 05 March 2007.

Born and brewed in Kwazulu Natal, Mrs. N.R Nkosi, the well educated Linguistic Academic Graduated for her first Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1977 at the University of Zululand. Obtained a Honors Degree in African Languages in 1978 at the afore-said University. Was trained as a qualified teacher in 1980 and obtained a University Diploma in Education. Undertook further post -graduate studies in Bachelor of Education, a Honors Degree in Psychology and graduated in 1989, at the University of Natal in Durban. Studied for a Masters Degree at Northwestern University, Evanston in USA and completed the degree in June 1994.

Taught at high school in 1980 and eventually appointed as lecturer at the University of Zululand between 1980 –1986. Became a teacher- trainer between 1987 – 2003. Taught as a seconded lecturer at the University of South Africa (UNISA from 2001 until 2003. Appointed in 1995, by the then, Minister of Arts and Culture, Science and Technology, Dr B.Ngubane, to be a member of the team that spearheaded the formation of the South African Language Plan Framework. Served as the chairperson and an ordinary member of Pan South African Language Board (PanSALB).sub structures that ensured that PanSALB’s mandate is carried out at the provincial level.

Published educational material such as, Izikhali Zabaqeqeshi Nabafundi (1992), (a book for IsiZulu University students and teacher-trainees), Isibani Sabasha, (1998 & 1999), a series of books for grade 1 and 2 which feature a learner’s book, a teacher’s manual, 6 readers, and a workbook for a learner. Have composed and published poems in a book entitled Ubuhlaluse (1992). Some of her poems appear in the book entitled Ugqozi Olumaphiko (2002) edited by Prof. DB Ntuli. One of her poems has been turned into an audio- visual material to be broadcast in a documentary in the local TV programme.
